INTRODUCTION Distribution and ecology of hydroids from coral reefs of high islands and atolls of French Polynesia so far have received little attention. Redier (1967, 1971) published a preliminary list of 14 species from Salvat's collections, sampled during several trips to Tahiti, Tuamoto (Mururoa, Reao and Maturei Vavao Atolls), to the Australes Islands (Rapa) and to Gambier. The present paper results from researches carried out by one of us (P.V.) concerning the benthic bionomy of reef sciophilous communities of hard bottoms. They have been carried out at Tiahura, Moorea, Society Islands (fig. IA) and on Takapoto Atoll, Tuamoto Archipelago (fig. 2A) in 1973 and 1974. They gave us occasion to compile a revised list of about 22 species of hydroids... |

In this publication a revision is given of the genera of the subfamily Bulimulinae (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Bulimulidae). The morphological variation of the shell, radula, pallial organs and genitalia is analized and 21 character transition series are recognized. In the systematical part the following data are presented for each genus : description of shell and anatomy, distribution, ecology, bibliography and a list of taxa. The number of (sub) genera is reduced from 80 to 43 ( + two nomina inquirenda). A new synonymy is : Paracochlea Hylton Scott, 1967 = Eudioptus Albers, 1860. The following new species names are introduced : Bostryx sophieae, Drymaeus (Drymaeus) marcapatensis, Drymaeus (Drymaeus) sophieae, Drymaeus (Mesembrinus) pseudobesus. Berendtia... |

Phosphorated nutrition of the red alga Chondrus crispus Stackh. is studied is two morphologically very dissimilar forms of the thallus. Phosphorus measurements, which were monthly carried out at different parts of the alga, showed first that the distribution of this element is not homogeneous along the thallus, and second that seasonal variations occur. It is suggested that the classical polymorphism of the species can be taken into account as concerns its physiology. Besides, from absorption and exsorption experiments which were performed with super(32)P as a tracer, it is shown that the high concentration factor of phosphorus in the alga as compared to the environmental seawater (up to 17.9 x 10 super(4)) can be explained as an effect of metabolic process. |

A lectotype of Arion hortensis Férussac, 1819 and a neotype of A. distinctus Mabille, 1868 are selected in order to assure nomenclatural stability. Descriptions of preserved specimens of these species from large parts of central and western Europe are provided, as well as of living animals from The Netherlands and Belgium. The main characters used by Davies (1977, 1979) to separate the British representatives of this complex were found suitable in the rest of Europe as well, in contrast to some characters given by De Wilde (1983). Arion owenii Davies, 1979 was not present in the material studied. Provisional UTM-distribution maps (50 km grid) of A. hortensis and A. distinctus in Europe (except the British Isles and Belgium) are provided, besides 10 km grid... |

A survey of South Asiatic Cochylinae (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae), comprising 50 species, belonging to ten genera, is given. Five new species are described: Stenodes hapala, ♂ (Ε Borneo, Hong Kong), Phalonidia datetis, ♂ ♀ (Thailand), P. pista, ♂ ♀ (Hong Kong), Eupoecilia coniopa, ♂ ♀ (Ν. Borneo) and E. thalia, ♀ (N. Borneo). Phalonidia sphaenophora (Diakonoff) is transferred to Aethes Billberg, Aethes taneces Diakonoff, to Eupoecilia Stephens, Phalonia glycitis Meyrick, to Aprepodoxa Meyrick. Of Eupoecilia armifera Razowski a ♂ metallotype is described (Nepal). Of E. engelinae (Diakonoff), wegneri Diakonoff and scythalephora (Diakonoff) elaborate figures of the genitalia are presented. Four old apocryphal cochyline species are referred to Tortricini,... |
